GDM affects 1 in 10 pregnancies and increases women's lifelong risk of stroke, depression, dementia, and heart disease. My study will track health outcomes for 30 years after pregnancy across 3 countries, testing whether managing diabetes after pregnancy also prevents brain disease decades later. Using genetic data and health registries, we will identify which women need intensive follow-up versus reassurance, enabling personalized prevention strategies that improve both heart and brain health.
